<p>Houston's heat and humidity are exactly what roof algae wants. Trees overhanging the roof add moss and lichen on top of that. A dirty roof is not just cosmetic — trapped moisture under algae and moss can shorten the life of your shingles.</p>
Our Method
<p>High pressure is never used on a roof — it strips granules and can void a shingle warranty. We soft wash: a commercial-grade solution is applied and left to dwell so it kills the algae, moss and lichen down to the root, then it is rinsed clean. On a 30-year-old roof we have brought the color back close to original with zero granule loss.</p>
Those black streaks on your roof are not dirt — they are a living algae (gloeocapsa magma) that feeds on the limestone filler in asphalt shingles. Left alone it spreads and can shorten the life of the roof. We remove it the way the shingle manufacturers actually recommend.
